Information-Theoretic Foundations of DNA Data Storage

چکیده

Due to its longevity and enormous information density, DNA is an attractive medium for archival data storage. Thanks rapid technological advances, storage becoming practically feasible, as demonstrated by a number of experimental systems, making it promising solution our society's increasing need While in living things, molecules can consist millions nucleotides, due constraints, practice, stored on many short molecules, which are preserved pool cannot be spatially ordered. Moreover, imperfections sequencing, synthesis, handling, well decay during storage, introduce random noise into the system, task reliably storing retrieving challenging. This unique setup raises natural information-theoretic question: how much reconstructed from noisy sequences? The goal this monograph address question discussing fundamental limits DNA. Motivated current constraints synthesis we propose probabilistic channel model that captures three key distinctive aspects systems: (1) written onto unordered fashion; (2) corrupted (3) read randomly sampling pool. Our investigate impact each these capacity system. Rather than focusing coding-theoretic considerations computationally efficient encoding decoding, aim build foundation analysis channels, developing tools achievability converse arguments.

Information-Theoretic Foundations of Differential Privacy

We examine the information-theoretic foundations of the increasingly popular notion of differential privacy. We establish a connection between differential private mechanisms and the rate-distortion framework. Additionally, we also show how differentially private distributions arise out of the application of the Maximum Entropy Principle. This helps us locate differential privacy within the wid...

Data Storage in DNA

Human-beings have always been fond of accessing more and more information in minimum possible time and space. Consequently New Generation Computers and High Speed Internet have gained popularity in the recent years. We have been witness to remarkable achievements like the transition from the bulky hard-drives to the flash drives which has made personal data storage efficiently manageable. But w...

Information-theoretic Analysis of Unsteady Data

The temporal evolution of scientific data is of high relevance in many fields of application. Understanding the dynamics over time is a crucial step in understanding the underlying system. The availability of large scale parallel computers has led to a finer and finer resolution of simulation data, which makes it difficult to detect all relevant changes of the system by watching a video or a se...
